Welcome to the Bioinformatics Open Café
About
The Bioinformatics Open Café (BOC) is an informal event series where students, researchers, and enthusiasts can meet, share ideas, and learn about Bioinformatics, embracing and living the values of open science.
It is open to all backgrounds, and it is free to join - no need to sign up for that!
This event is brought to you by the Bioinformatics research group at the IMBEI, with the support of the Core Facility Bioinformatics (BIUM-MZ).
Join us for coffee, talks, and conversations!

What’s the plan?
Every meeting will have a short impulse presentation (max 5-10 minutes), followed by a good round of questions on that.
Afterwards, you can also present a small-size Bioinformatics-related issue, and we will discuss that in an open manner, as a group. Keep in mind that this should not take longer than 15 minutes, so that each meeting we might have up to three use case discussions.
This is the link to the Google Form where you can submit your question/issue in advance.

When & where?
We meet on the first Friday of each month (unless it is marked as a holiday) at the IMBEI, on the 21st floor of the Bonifazius Tower A, 9:00-10:00.
The small meeting room and a cup of coffee will be waiting for you - if you are there in advance, you can of course enter our rooms & follow the good aroma!
Our first BOC meeting is going to be on January, 9th 2026!
